1. Accessibility policy

Gijón City Council web site is committed with Web site accessibility. To reach this goal, it follows standard technologies established by the W3C and the AAWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0. The City Council of Gijón aims at creating a portal for each and every citizen so that no disability would become discrimination in the use of the portal.

2. Accessible web site

- AENOR.pngThe Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification, AENOR, CTIC Foundation and the European Software Institute, certify the accessibility of the Web site of Gijón. This certificate implies the commitment of continuing being accessible. So, the Web site of Gijón becomes one of the first web pages of the region to get the AA accessibility level.

is included in the accessibility certificate system following the UNE 139803:2004 standard: applications for disabled people. Web contents accessibility requirements. The aforementioned rule is based on World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) guidelines, which offices in Spain are in CTIC Foundation, located in the "Parque Científico y Tecnológico" of Gijón (Science & Tecnology Park).

A set of shortcuts to accede the general information sections, in which the portal is organised, has been programmed in order to use the Web site of the City Council of Gijón in an accessible manner. This allocation tries to mirror the Web site design accurately. These are the Shortcuts:

Depending on the web browser used, the combination of keys is as follows:

  • Shortcut + Enter for IE 4.0
  • Alt + shift + shortcut for Mozilla and Netscape
  • Alt +Shortcut + Enter for IE 5 and subsequent browsers
  • Shift + ESC to enable shortcuts for Opera
  • Ctrl + shortcut may be used in Mac OS-systems.

4. Keys predefined by Windows


Windows offers a predefined sequence of different key combinations that enable a simple handling of windows menus and standard actions. The combinations are as follows:
